I worked at Acoustical Solutions from January 2018 – January 2019. The job started as a short-term six month contract which was expanded to ten months. My title was Junior Front End Web Developer but the title of Junior UI/UX Designer was added once I proved my understanding of user design.
I did not develop this site from scratch but I did make many improvements to it. When I started working at the company, the call to action buttons (the icons) were not even clickable on mobile. Although many people that accessed the site were using it from an office setting and not on mobile, I felt it was very important to make sure the site worked well across all platforms. As their business focused more on e-commerce for all shoppers and not just for building suppliers and commercial work, I felt it was even more urgent that the site was more accessible and easy to use for everyone, no matter what device they were using. For this reason, I completed a full and thorough mobile UI/UX analysis.
One of steps that I played a key role in was creating the layered navigation. Creating the facets and helping the customers drill down more on they were looking for and providing clear solutions had positive results. In the first week of implementation, the online sales grew by 10%.
I also focused on fixing, editing, and writing code to make sure the website’s style was consistent and uniform throughout the site.
Keyword research and creating SEO rich content was also a focus during my time at this company.
The site is live and my changes can still be seen at acousticalsolutions.com.
