Enterprise Community Partners is one of the largest nonprofits you’ve probably never heard of — and one of the best. They work primarily in the low-income housing space and do genuinely important work in the world.
This was my first job in web development, and I couldn’t have asked for a better entry point. I joined on a 6-month contract while still in IT school, working as a Web Content Technician on a massive migration project — moving both the public site and internal intranet from a proprietary CMS to Drupal 8.
The scale was significant. Pages numbered in the hundreds, and when content was dumped into Drupal, styles broke — particularly on mobile. My job expanded well beyond the title. I repaired broken code, created custom styling and helped shape the user experience across the migrated pages.
It was a deep-end-first introduction to the field, and I’m grateful for every minute of it.
